Speaker 1:

what have you been doing? Oh, chickens, the babies are in like a low thing and I I crawled and then I didn't want to change. All we're doing is I'm photographing houses today, right? I don't normally see you with dirty pants though. Yeah, that's because it's technically our day off, isn't it?

Speaker 1:

Welcome to this week's episode of Hometown Happenings Howdy, angela Drea. So how's your week been Long, really stressful, I think I'm not surviving. Well, justin had was it the day before yesterday? The kidney stone thing. The surgery thing was Wednesday, yeah, wednesday morning, but it started on saturday, right, you woke up saturday saying we're going to the er, yes, with children. Yeah, now we had to take the boys. Um, and justin's never had a kidney stone, so I didn't realize how bad, but evidently his dad had them, so they said it could be genetic. So, so it threw off our week, right? Well, yeah, because it kind of drug on forever and ever. You went to the ER, then you had to go back on Monday to the doctor to get referred to the urologist, then pre-op, and then, so it was just like every day of the week having to deal with it, and then he finally had the procedure, but he's still uncomfortable, well, and I'm really lucky that justin is my teammate and parenting.

Speaker 1:

I know a lot of dads are a little more hands-off than he is, but when something like this happens, I realize how much I rely on him and school needs to start back. Yeah, I just need routine. You need to go back to a routine. Yeah, well, it's only a couple weeks. You know we've hit August now. Oh, so you've only got like two weeks left before they go back to school. Yeah, back to school. Bash is on the 12th. I think we have to go meet their teachers. And Dean's going to kindergarten. It's going to go to. No, he's staying at Lisa's. He's not old enough for preschool yet.

Speaker 1:

Oh, okay, his birthday. You have to turn three before August 1st and his birthday is the 22nd. That's nuts that he's getting that big already. Yeah, he was the. I don't know if he missed me as much as like, because it was like he missed his brothers. No, no, he was just like hey, mom, let's go to the lake, because when you're in a GG, there's no potential of going to the lake. I'm like it's the middle of the week. I know it feels like it's been a while and you can't go tomorrow. Mm-mm Shooting a wedding 14 hours with drive time.

Speaker 1:

What time you said you had to be there at 9. When's the wedding? Not until 5. Yeah, should we do education about weddings? How does that work? You get there at 9? Yeah, because you didn't do like a big wedding with Ben. Well, I thought it was big. It was not. It was not, bro. No, it costs big. Yeah, they do. Yeah, they do so. Like.

Speaker 1:

Typically, I have to get there early enough to photograph the girls getting their makeup done. I guess, technically, we got there at like 10 o'clock in the morning and my friend did my makeup and, um, a friend did my hair, but she was coming to the wedding, but she's also a hairstylist, so she did my hair and I have photos of all that and so, yeah, I guess we were there and then the wedding wasn't until five, but we were there pretty much all day. See, yeah, so I get that now and then, uh. So this is the disclaimer that if you're getting married, I highly recommend getting a day of coordinator. So I had a stressful situation before I got here with the flood in my garage. I don't have any idea how this water faucet got turned on. I said it was buried Like no one could have brushed by the spigot. Yeah, the way it was. Yeah, I have no idea how the spigot got turned on, but there was water everywhere. Now my yard has all this crap in it. I don't think those electrical cords will ever be the same, probably not. Yeah, probably not.

Speaker 1:

Fun times, fun times, the joys of home ownership. Yeah, it doesn't look like it did any damage to the actual house, so good thing we were home. Oh yeah, that's true too. I'm probably going to have a really high water bill. Need Diamond City water. Oh, yeah, you're going to eat it now. Yeah, you are so real estate-wise my knees are really dirty Chickens. Yeah, chicken life.

Speaker 1:

If you dream of homesteading, I'm your real estate agent because I live in the thick of it. So it's August 2nd. Yes, so August 17th is the big day for real estate world, and I made a decision that you. You went ahead and implemented it. Uh-huh, it's august first way. I told melissa yesterday in her office as that, as I'm making her sign two different buyers agency agreements for me, I said I've decided it's august 1st.

Speaker 1:

If people are going to call and want to show a house, I'm getting awkward. I'm getting awkward. I've always been that way. So welcome to the show. I legit told the lady that was in our office yesterday. Legit told her. I said, yeah, this is going to be awkward. I'm going to ask you to marry me before we go on a date. Yep, but I have to. Yeah, we're just prepping and technically, I know that you said it's August 17th nationally, right, it's always been a thing in Arkansas that it needed to be reduced to writing. Yep, you needed to get that signed beforehand. Yeah, so it is what it is. People get used to it. You can't just call and go look at a house just for funsies. Well, and it's respect of our profession. We're not a lockbox with legs. Yeah, we're not a lockbox with legs. I like it. Yeah, so find a real estate agent and make a commitment so we do have something exciting coming up. Yeah, we got invited.

Speaker 1:

I know when I got, when I saw it in the inbox on facebook, my ego went. We're going to steal magnolias at the lyric this week on sunday and I've never been to a play. I saw freaky friday at the lyric and I feel like I saw another one, but I can't remember what it was. But I liked it. I thought they did pretty good for it being like a local. How long are they? Is it like a movie? It starts at two and it probably isn't over till five. Okay, um, like I, there was an intermission. Who's your favorite character in steel magnolias? I'm assuming you've seen the movie, because you said something about dolly parton yesterday, so now I'm answering my own question. I don't like dolly Parton.

Speaker 1:

I know you're a Weezer fan. That's because I want to be Weezer when I grow up. Well, you are Weezer, she's just so. Her interactions with the husband. So if people want to invite us out to their events, yeah, we can go, we're happy to go. Yeah, that's the purpose of this podcast is to educate, but to also and share local things that are happening and keep people in the know. So we'll come back in September to launch out season three. Right, we just need a break for a few weeks to get in the swing of getting back to school and all that stuff, right? Yeah, we did make a post on Facebook asking for people to give us some topics of what they wanted to hear about. We'd be glad to talk about it. Or if you want to be on the podcast, yeah, we're happy to sit you on the green couch, there's plenty of room.

Speaker 1:

I joined another book club it's called chapter one book club. I missed the last, like the. They just started and I missed, like the first and last monthly meeting. It's a chance to meet new people and talk about things that I like, like reading. I know Seven Brew's coming August 19th Seven Brew I know I still go to Sweet Honey, support local.

Speaker 1:

I know I'm with you there. I think 1915 might have coffee drinks too. I don't know Well, and I'm not Sweet Honey exclusive because Mudslinger's has my heart also. Yeah, it just depends on what side of town we're on. But and I hit a hometown brew sometimes on my way to town we find out sweet honey has those chai macaroons on regular basis. Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1:

So me and lauren have been having a discussion is it a macaroon or macaron? How's macaroon? So she was googling it. Now we have a poll we're going to have to post on social media Do you pronounce it macaroon or macaron? Let us know. Those of you listening, not watching. A macaroon is got coconut and it's like a puff ball. You know what those look like from here. Red lobster cheddar bay biscuit from over here. Yeah, they do kind of, but with coconut.

Speaker 1:

Everything we talk about is food. Sorry guys, this is why this is a food podcast. Yeah, well, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. So we're gonna go to the play on sunday. Yes, watch steel magnolias. We've given you some real estate tidbits sprinkled in along the way and to warn the general public that if your real estate agent hasn't been talking to you about buyer's agency before, they definitely are going to have to start doing it now. Yes, if you have any ideas what you want us to talk about on here, places you want us to go see. You want us to come see your place. You want to be on our podcast. You have an event coming up. You want to bring awareness to a charity perhaps Fundraisers, schools. We're here for it. So reach out to us and let us know what you want, and thank you for tuning in. We'll see you next time.
