Howdy, hey, so welcome to Hometown Happenings. It's been a minute, but hey, we're back. We got a lot of exciting things. Yeah, it's been crazy, so high for the week.
Speaker 3:High for the boat, oh yeah.
Speaker 1:Luke's behind a boat. Luke got up behind a boat. Oh yeah, and behind a boat.
Speaker 3:Yeah, luke is skiing on two skis. He's already asking when he can go to one. Go to one, and no, he's asking about barefooting. He just wanted to skip that. This is why we have some trips to the.
Speaker 1:ER, you didn't know that. You were said I could get up on skis. I was pretty impressed. Not going to lie.
Speaker 3:But we can't post that video, yeah because I lost my drawers.
Speaker 1:Yep, old lady wasn't prepared for it.
Speaker 3:Told you, if you came into my cove Was not prepared for that.
Speaker 1:But hey, my body isn't as sore as I thought. I got a massage. Massage by Val, yeah shout out to Val, thanks for saving Angela's back shoulders. All the things yeah, we're gonna have to like get some like endorsements, like we're all.
Speaker 3:I went ahead and was like well, if you got one on Monday, then I'm getting one on Friday. I was thrilled. I was like when's your next opening? She's like Friday evening. Absolutely, yeah, I'm taking it. I'm not looking at the calendar. We we'll rearrange.
Speaker 1:I booked my next one, so I'm ready month out.
Speaker 3:I try. I booked the lymphatic one this time, though, cause I was hoping to help with my ear. Yeah, I don't know anything about that, so I don't know. Period it said drain it. It may help with this fluid buildup I got going on in my ear. So if I'm talking too loud it's because I can't hear out of my left ear.
Speaker 1:We moved Lauren out. Yeah, yeah, I'm sad about this.
Speaker 3:She didn't live with me.
Speaker 1:I kind of miss her she's on vacation now, but only like one more week when she comes back. One more week and she's already got a job. Beach sucks. Lauren, she's already got a job and her thing she's got a job. Her thing she's got a job. She had a working interview.
Speaker 3:We'll see, so that's gonna be weird I know, but I'm glad to have my house back. You're gonna you're gonna be sad. I give it a solitude and you're gonna be sad I'll be going to russellville, yeah you'll find a reason and you won't admit it either.
Speaker 1:No, I don't need a reason that whataburger place.
Speaker 3:It's not the same as the chain.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, it's not the same.
Speaker 3:It's deliciousness.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 3:Plus, race season in the fall is better than race season during the summer because it's not quite so hot at Centerville. So we could just load everybody up and go down and watch the drag races on Saturday night and maybe introduce her to a husband. Maybe I don't know, that's the goal.
Speaker 1:Not enough hours in the day.
Speaker 3:That's not even close.
Speaker 1:We should show the mark calendar, the low for the week, the low, the lows for the week. Is there not enough hours in the day?
Speaker 3:I'm failing as a mother, we're having to schedule our family time.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's bad.
Speaker 3:Ben time is literally on the calendar. It's that bad Drayda time with boys. That's kind of I don't know if that's really great or really sad. It's one of the other.
Speaker 1:And I know that we say that we're a terrible time, managers and I'm not saying that we're good at it, because I don't think we're good, but I don't know that we're terrible, we just have a lot we just have so much, and I guess it's a good thing to be oh no, I'd be complaining if we weren't busy, but it is a lot.
Speaker 3:Well, and you know, I kind of dread. I kind of dread the whole, like we you were talking about. You got a phone call before we came into record, so you were a little late coming in because you were out on the phone, right, and you're having to educate, which is not a bad. It's not a bad thing, but you said that it's frustrating because you have to. That's not how things are done. And you were educating him on buyer's agency, so that what this guy was doing was calling the listing agents of all these properties that he's interested in and you were educating him on that's not really the best route as a buyer. Right, you need to interview and choose an agent. You said, well, that's not how things are done. But the problem is, is that is how things have been done?
Speaker 1:Yeah, people don't educate very well.
Speaker 3:No, so I'm kind of dreading if we're being completely honest next month, when buyer's agency which has always been required here in Arkansas, but people have been a little lenient on it.
Speaker 1:Well in the next month, like it's now to the point where we're gonna have to it's always been required Right, but to like how it's federal properties, we're gonna have to have a buyer's agreement established.
Speaker 3:And I know that can sound like as a non-real estate person, because it wasn't that long ago that I was a non-real estate person and that sounded really intimidating to make me sign something just so you can go show me a house it is people understand.
Speaker 1:This is a profession. We're not door openers.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's so much more to this, and the thing is too.
Speaker 1:People live in these houses they don't want just even if they're vacant. They're not for just anybody to roll up and look in. Yeah, it is not like buying a car.
Speaker 3:We're not car salesmen. There's way more to it, and these documents were created by attorneys. We are allowed to fill in the blank, but these documents were created to protect the buyer and the seller. Yeah, so a buyer's agency as intimidating as it is to sign your name on something read it. Have your agent explain it to you. It is in your best interest to have a buyer's agency.
Speaker 1:I feel like we get on this harp every week because it's just something we encounter on a regular basis, over and, over and over again. We haven't had a podcast since we had the picnic have we not. So we really should tell them that the picnic came and went, the picnic was the picnic. The scavenger hunt happened.
Speaker 3:Yes.
Speaker 1:And we had winners and it was fun.
Speaker 3:Hopefully we'll do it again next year, the picnic has been the same that it's been for 150 years or however long, and it's not ever going to change. The pioneers have been coming to Lead Hill. There was a car show, there was a parade, we threw candy.
Speaker 1:The parade was the best part, was it?
Speaker 3:I think it's because that's your first Let Hill parade.
Speaker 1:I enjoyed cruising in that golf cart, throwing candy and swerving all over the road.
Speaker 3:That's because we stopped and had conversations along the way, yeah.
Speaker 1:Sorry for the people behind me, yeah.
Speaker 3:We apologize. Next time we'll try to head up the end of the parade.
Speaker 1:Oh so you want to know something I didn't know this, but did you know that motorcycles are supposed to be in the front of the parade no because motorcycles will overheat. Did you know this?
Speaker 3:no, well, I yeah like I knew that, as I I owned a motorcycle at one point, but that didn't occur to me so if you don't go fast enough there's no air uh-huh going to cool them down.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so our motorcycles in the parade. So if you don't go fast, enough.
Speaker 3:There's no air going through to cool them down.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so our motorcycles in the parade got put in the back.
Speaker 3:Oh no.
Speaker 1:And we didn't go fast enough for them, put them in a bike. Yeah, they like all bailed and one of them's motorcycle even overheated and they had to let it sit.
Speaker 3:Oh no, Well, I knew that.
Speaker 1:But whoever put the parade on didn't know that, and so I guess because it happened and so I meant to make sure we were sorted we weren't? We just merged, so I meant to message the boss lady and let her know for a future just because maybe they've never had them before I didn't know, I would have not known to put them in the right place, or in a different place.
Speaker 3:We're so worried about what we got going on because we're like squirrels that we can't worry about other people yeah, so anyways, but I was glad the motorcycle tried.
Speaker 1:I felt bad that that happened to them but it was cool that they came and entered the car show and all that stuff had a different participated, had a different kind of class of vehicle.
Speaker 3:Yeah, they had a different thing to the car show. We had the Grand Marshal. He was a pretty cool little dude, wasn't he? Yeah?
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was cool that he's from here and a world champion, bass fisher, something like that.
Speaker 3:I don't know, we don't fish. Yeah, it's a big deal.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was 90-something, I'm sure of it.
Speaker 3:He was pretty cool.
Speaker 1:And then Fizzy Mix, fizzy Mix. So I tried. Oh, you went down to the town because they've been at the farm stand.
Speaker 3:So the picnic. I had to sing the national anthem, so I drank tea.
Speaker 1:That's why the national anthem was terrible. It was awful.
Speaker 3:Don't go back and watch that. I should really start practicing before we do things like that. I told you.
Speaker 1:When would we have time? She doesn't listen. I just went. I told her to sing it to me in the car.
Speaker 3:I'm not singing to you in the car. That's weird. That's Isn't that weird. We're going to put a poll.
Speaker 1:If you know Drea and I, it's not weird.
Speaker 3:I think that makes it weirder. Is it weird if Drea serenades Angela in the car as we're driving?
Speaker 1:through town. It's not serenading, she's practicing. For It'd be different if you were singing, taylor. Swift to me every day.
Speaker 3:I do sing Taylor Swift to you every day, but it's usually along with her in the car. You're not singing it to me yeah, that's true, you're just singing. I didn't want to. It's different when you get in front of people. It doesn't like it's not practicing. It's it's not practicing the song Like. I know the song. I know all the practicing.
Speaker 1:Fine, doesn't seem for me. No, you sound like my mother. Well, I know, your mother recorded you.
Speaker 3:My parents, that never come out to social events showed up for the Lead Hill picnic. If you want to know why Brian Thompson was outside of the truck shop, not in Country Market for lunch or the cafe. And was out of his house it was because of Angela being in the picnic. No, it's because of Angela.
Speaker 1:I mean it's because of you. No, it's because of you singing. Just like when you sang karaoke and I poured it and sent it to your mom, your mom it made her day. She was so happy. Your mom would probably come there for karaoke just to see you. The idea of my mother, it's like 100% not her atmosphere, it's a bar, the idea of my mother in a bar?
Speaker 3:I don't think so. I, it's a bar. The idea of my mother in a bar? I don't think so. I don't think so. We'd have to FaceTime her while she sat in the parking lot. We were just there to watch my father-in-law sing. I brought my kids in the bar.
Speaker 1:You did.
Speaker 3:You did To do karaoke. It was so much fun. So shout out to Violet's. Violet's wants to sponsor us. Yeah. How many right.
Speaker 1:Seriously, violet's pizza was pretty dang good no, and the mushrooms I didn't get to try the mushrooms.
Speaker 3:I had my husband with me.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, we need to drive over there just for the mushrooms oh, can we do a hometown happenings like field trip? If drea will sing, carry it.
Speaker 3:We need to bring back like field trips.
Speaker 1:We do short videos we're gonna you say that tomorrow yeah, we're going on a field trip tomorrow and it's going to be part of this podcast.
Speaker 3:I don't feel like it's a field trip, though.
Speaker 1:If it's a place, we frequent every day.
Speaker 3:We're recording this right now. I didn't go there today I did.
Speaker 1:We're recording this right now and we're going to go there tomorrow to finish recording With one big episode at Sweet Honey.
Speaker 3:Hey, so I'm Drea with Hometown Happenings. My teammate, Angela wasn't able to join us this morning, but this Angela and Matt here with Sweet Honey are here to talk with me about the new menu items and stuff that we have going on at my favorite restaurant in town. So what's new with the menu, guys? What'd you add to?
Speaker 2:it. We've added a few breakfast items. We've added hash browns on our breakfast items. We've added a couple biscuit meals along with some croissant sandwiches and I heard french toast sticks. French toast sticks have been added, so now we have french toast and waffles belgian waffles oh, I'm like super pumped about this, like I'm already here every day.
Speaker 3:This is just gonna make it worse. So, angela, my angela, has ordered an americano since you guys opened, but it hasn't been. It wasn't on the menu, on the wall. You guys have always been able to do those normal coffee drinks.
Speaker 4:Yes, yeah, we've added chai, we've added matcha, we've added our frappes to the menu. We have americanos, we can do myster hot and we can do the signature latte flavors in any of them Sweet. We also have a new Red Bull pineapple upside down, like you guys had at the event that we had.
Speaker 3:Yes, oh, that is so good. It really does taste like pineapple upside down. Y'all really knocked that one out of the park.
Speaker 4:And they can get it with monster. We added monster, also the white monster.
Speaker 3:The sugar-free one.
Speaker 4:Yes.
Speaker 3:Oh, sir, the sugar-free one, yes, oh no. For a caffeine addict, this is, this is big news, guys. So a big thing for sweet honey. That I think makes y'all different is you guys deliver. So when I'm stuck at the office or running late, I just pick up the phone and you bring it to me. So there's a delivery fee sometimes.
Speaker 2:Uh, if your order is small, there's a delivery fee on it. If you get a couple together, then what is it? 25 dollars. As long as it's over 25, then there's no delivery fee. It if you get a couple together, then what is it? $25. As long as it's over $25, then there's no delivery fee. Which if you get three or four people, drinks and food, you hit that no problem. And, yeah, we deliver all day. Lunch is a big delivery time, yeah, and we have added some new lunch items. Also, we added street tacos, so we've got chicken carnitas and pork street tacos, along with some new wraps. I think we have the caesar wrap. We've got a new grilled chicken wrap we've added. I know a lot of people love our blts, but the bacon is kind of spicy the million dollar bacon so we have added regular bacon. So you have a choice. Now you can get million dollar bacon, which is the spicy, the best bacon. But if you don't want the spice, then you can. You get the regular bacon on our sandwiches.
Speaker 3:Now, there's days when you need to tone it down.
Speaker 2:Yeah yeah, rare. And kids, kids like to eat some of our items, but they don't like the spicy bacon, so so we've added that for them. I'm trying to think of some other new Mac and cheese. Oh yeah, added the mac and cheese to our menu as a side item. We added kettle chips to the side item. We did get rid of our macaroni salad, but we changed our potato salad to not sour cream based. It's now mayonnaise based. So those that don to not sour cream based, it's now mayonnaise based. So those that don't like sour cream like me, I would never eat our potato salad because it was sour cream based, but now we went to a mayonnaise mustard based. So potato salad so good.
Speaker 3:That's what's happening for lunch today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um well, I'm super thrilled with having you guys in town. I angela the other day her father-in-law's birthday. We're not planners, our schedule is hectic. She was able to walk in and buy a cake out of the case. She thought it was custom because it was so beautiful, so it saved the days a lot.
Speaker 2:We have a lot of cakes. I'm just fixing to decorate a grab-and-go, so we try we keep them whole and then, along with the homemade cheesecakes and pies, and you have mini pies.
Speaker 3:Mini pies Every day, yes, and the cheesecakes are delicious. I've tried most of them. I don't think there's much in your case that I haven't tried at this point though.
Speaker 2:Well, we've got the new cookie boxes that we've started. You get six cookies, choice of six cookies, and then there is what? Three or four specialty cookies a week? Now Three, three specialty cookies, and those change weekly. We usually post them on Sunday along with cupcakes.
Speaker 3:People really need to log in and stay in tune with your social media, because that's where everything new gets posted.
Speaker 2:It is nonstop. We keep the girls busy posting on social media to keep us updated, right, I think that's half my camera roll, yeah social media.
Speaker 3:Yeah well, I'm thrilled that you guys sat down with me today. We're gonna keep it short and sweet so that way I can try some snacks in good sounds like. Thank you guys. Thank you for joining us on our little field trip to sweet honey bakery. We can't wait to bring you another episode coming soon.
